Some time after we published information about the collision on Asnyka, a Reader wrote to us and described her own collision. That latter incident took place this winter. The woman:

The photo shows my Audi, which was reversing, and a photo of a Nissan Qashqai with a scrape on the door. The man in the Nissan was leaving the parking lot, just as I was. He cut across my path and, while reversing, I “hit” his car. There is a scratch, not a dent, on his car, which shows that the man was not stationary, as he claimed, but moving. The photos show his damage and mine. Practically nothing happened to my car. The policewoman who was called to the scene found not even joint fault, but my sole fault. (…)

She added:

The entire incident took place in a parking lot; I had not even managed to drive out onto the road. And so, despite having held a valid driving licence for almost thirty years and having accumulated a total of 2 penalty points, I became a criminal who had to be punished with 10 penalty points and a PLN 1,100 fine.

She also added regretfully: – What danger did I create, and what danger did the woman who wrecked the Daewoo create? (This refers to the collision on Asnyka – ed. istotne.pl).

She also noted: – I did not create any danger and received the highest fine. Can the police do whatever they want??? I am outraged, disgusted and have completely lost respect for this institution.

Senior constable Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec:

The decision on how to conclude an intervention is made by the police officers at the scene. Following the amendment of the regulations in 2022, the amounts of fines and the number of penalty points provided for various traffic offences increased significantly. In this case, the perpetrator of the offence was given the lowest possible fine.

She adds: – If a participant in an incident has doubts, they may refuse to accept the ticket, and the case is then referred to court.
