The incident occurred in the Zagrodno municipality (Złotoryja County). Local traffic police decided to stop a moped for inspection. The officers activated the signals ordering the vehicle to stop. – The driver’s reaction was the complete opposite – reports junior aspirant Dominika Kwakszys, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Złotoryja.

She adds:

Despite the visual and audible signals transmitted by the police car, the driver began to flee: initially along a paved road, and then along a dirt road and through a cultivated field. After several hundred metres, the 29-year-old was stopped by police officers.

While fleeing, the moped rider did not suffer any serious injuries. Interestingly, he was sober.

It quickly became clear why the man had tried to evade the police. The vehicle he was riding was uninsured and did not have a valid technical inspection. What is more, its plates had been transferred from another two-wheeler.

The spokesperson:

The officers are carrying out further actions in the case, and the 29-year-old’s fate will be decided by the court. For the offenses committed, the man faces a financial penalty from the Insurance Guarantee Fund, imprisonment and a court-imposed driving ban.

She adds:

We remind you that since 2017, a provision has been in force stating that a driver who fails to stop for an inspection despite being instructed to do so by means of visual and audible signals, thereby forcing officers to begin a pursuit, commits an offense punishable by up to 5 years in prison. In addition, the court will mandatorily impose a ban on driving motor vehicles for a period of 1 to 15 years.
