As they informed followers on their social media profile, volunteer firefighters from Nowogrodziec:
We are sorry that the activities related to celebrating Wet Monday were met with criticism. We wanted to apologize to the people who experienced inconvenience as a result of the symbolic sprinkling of water outside the church in Nowogrodziec.
They added:
We also inform you that Mass attendees had the opportunity to leave the church grounds through a second exit.
And they emphasized:
We are here for people. We take part in rescue and firefighting operations, cultural events and charity fairs, and we strive to cultivate Polish traditions—hence our activities on this holiday. We will draw conclusions for next year.
