A valuable souvenir, an unusual gift or a local means of payment – this is the shortest way to describe the municipal ducat (6 Bolesławów). The next issue of the coin will begin on 21 August 2010 and last for the entire year. The ducat commemorates the 30th anniversary of the founding of Bolesławiec’s Solidarność.
The coins will function as shopping vouchers. For a full year, they may be used to pay for goods and services, as well as exchanged for złoty (6 zł) at selected points throughout the city (the list of points will be available on the website of the municipal office and the campaign organiser).
This year’s novelty will be decorative blister packs, namely elegant packages made of rigid lacquered cardboard and plastic. More information can be found here.
The issue of silver collector’s ducats with a denomination of 6 Bolesławów is also planned (mintage – 100 pieces). The price of one piece is 200 zł. The collector’s coins will not be exchangeable. They will be sold together with a decorative box bearing the city’s coat of arms and a certificate.
The campaign organisers invite Bolesławiec entrepreneurs to cooperate. All retail, catering and service establishments from Bolesławiec and the surrounding area will be able to put Bolesławiec ducats into circulation and accept them at their premises.
