On 22 March, the duty officer at the Lwówek police headquarters was informed about objects resembling unexploded ordnance in a forest in Wolbromów. The dangerous objects were found by a man who was walking in the area.
Lwówek police:
A police bomb-disposal technician conducted a mine and ordnance reconnaissance. The findings showed that the unexploded ordnance was anti-tank grenade launchers, most probably dating from the Second World War.
Soldiers from the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment were called to the scene. Our bomb-disposal specialists searched the area and found more unexploded ordnance. (A total of 15 grenade launchers were secured).
During the operation, it was necessary to evacuate residents of the nearby buildings.
