– The capitals of two more counties, Złotoryja and Lwówek Śląski, are being incorporated into the network of connections operated by Koleje Dolnośląskie. We are expanding the network of bus services, closely integrated with the rail connections of our regional carrier. For residents, this will make everyday travel easier, including journeys to work or school. Improving transport accessibility is a priority for the regional government – explains Cezary Przybylski, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
Three new lines are joining the network of connections operated by Koleje Dolnośląskie: from Legnica via Złotoryja and Lwówek Śląski to Jelenia Góra, from Chocianów via Przemków and Radwanice to Głogów, and from Syców to Oleśnica. All these connections will be operated by buses in Koleje Dolnośląskie livery.
– The first such bus connection between Kłodzko and Stronie Śląskie proved to be a success. More than 31,000 people have already used it. By launching more such connections, we will add towns inhabited by 55,000 Lower Silesians to the network, thereby consistently implementing our plan to combat transport exclusion – says Tymoteusz Myrda, a member of the Board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship responsible for rail transport.
More counties gaining access to rail transport
The connection via Złotoryja and Lwówek Śląski will mean that two more county capitals are incorporated into the rail connection network. In addition, residents of Legnica and Jelenia Góra will gain a direct “rail” connection between the two cities.
– Koleje Dolnośląskie still operated services to Lwówek Śląski in the 21st century, and we can see how great the need is to give the residents of this town the opportunity to travel on a single ticket, for example, to Wrocław. I am pleased that we are returning to Lwówek, and I am also pleased that we are opening up to new destinations – says Damian Stawikowski, president of Koleje Dolnośląskie.
KD buses will travel not only to county capitals, but will also improve transport connections, for example, in Polkowice County, where the municipalities of Przemków and Radwanice will gain a “rail” connection with Głogów and Chocianów. Residents of the Syców municipality and town will also gain a connection in the eastern part of Lower Silesia, linked to Wrocław.
Cooperation between local governments at all levels
In September 2022, Koleje Dolnośląskie began operating a connection between Kłodzko Miasto and Stronie Śląskie via Lądek-Zdrój. This happened even though the railway line on that section is still out of service. The bus connection became a huge hit. Travelling from Stronie Śląskie, passengers can buy a single ticket, for example, to Wrocław Główny. The same option is available at the ticket office in Wrocław.
– It is a brilliant solution, and I recommend that other local governments give it a try – says Dariusz Chromiec, mayor of Stronie Śląskie. – This service really replaces trains and solves problems related to transport exclusion. The line was launched in September 2022 as the first of its kind in Poland.
More than 31,000 people have already used the connection between Kłodzko and Stronie Śląskie. The service is operated by the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship with financial participation from Kłodzko County, as well as the municipalities of Kłodzko (town), Kłodzko (municipality), Lądek-Zdrój and Stronie Śląskie.
