The timetable adjustment will be in effect from March 12 to June 10. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., together with the carriers, have prepared the connections in a way that makes the best use of the railway lines’ capacity while providing contractors with conditions to continue their work. The timetable change will simultaneously allow passenger services to operate, goods to be transported and the largest railway investments in years to be carried out, improving the comfort, accessibility and safety of rail travel.

Warsaw: new connections and shorter journeys to Lublin

On March 12, trains will run over a new railway viaduct built as part of the investment at Warszawa Zachodnia. The structure will enable a direct connection between the Radom line and the orbital line. Efficient connections will be provided between Radom, Warka and Piaseczno and Modlin, Legionowo and Wieliszew.

On the modernized Otwock–Lublin Główny route, the certification process for railway traffic control equipment has been completed. This will make it possible to increase train speeds to 160 km/h. As a result, the journey between Lublin and Warsaw will be shortened by approximately 20 minutes.

Trains return to modernized routes

In Greater Poland trains will return to the modernized Drzymałowo–Wolsztyn route from this Sunday. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. have completed the work, ensuring convenient regional connections. The journey from Wolsztyn to Drzymałowo, without replacement bus transport, will take approximately 25 minutes, and to the regional capital—approximately 1.5 hours. Passengers will board trains more easily from the rebuilt platforms in Wolsztyn and Grodzisk Wielkopolski.

From March 12, trains will also return to the line from Zbąszynek to Czerwieńsk in Lubusz Voivodeship. The completed work ensures more efficient and safer train journeys, as well as greater passenger comfort at the rebuilt platforms in Babimost and Sulechów. Finishing work will continue, including on bridges and viaducts and railway-road crossings. Once all work has been completed and the required permits obtained, trains will travel at 120 km/h, shortening journey times.

Better access to railway services from new and rebuilt stations and stops

In Lower Silesia passengers will board trains at the new Legnica Strefa stop. In Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship better access to railway services will also be provided from Sunday by the new Nikielkowo and Kolno stops on the Olsztyn–Korsze line, and Wietrzychowo on the Olsztyn–Działdowo route. At the end of March, the rebuilt platform no. 4 at Olsztyn Główny station is also scheduled to be opened to passengers.

In the capital of Małopolska residents will benefit from further positive effects of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.’s investment on Krakow’s cross-city railway line. Passengers will board more conveniently from additional rebuilt platforms at Kraków Bieżanów station. This means that trains will depart from all platform edges at the station. This will have a positive effect on the organization of railway traffic towards Kraków Główny and Tarnów.

In Lublin Voivodeship from the March timetable adjustment, passengers will use a new single-edge platform at Biała Podlaska station, on the side of the station building. Equipped with shelters, benches and information boards, it will make it easier for passengers to use the railway.

Billion-zloty investments and changes to train services

Due to the reconstruction of Warszawa Zachodnia station, selected PKP Intercity trains will use Warsaw’s orbital line (line no. 20), stopping at Warszawa Młynów station. Thanks to the stop at this station, passengers will gain the opportunity to conveniently change to the M2 metro line, enabling them to reach the city center quickly, as well as the right-bank part of Warsaw. A stop at platform no. 9 at Warszawa Zachodnia has also been scheduled.

From March 12, PLK SA will begin construction of new stops under the Government program for the construction or modernization of railway stops for 2021–2025. The new facilities will improve access to railway services and make daily journeys to work and school easier. In Podkarpackie Voivodeship, construction of the new Mielec Południowy stop is beginning. In Małopolska, construction of the Dąbrówka Jezioro Mucharskie stop is starting. In Łódź Voivodeship, PLK is beginning construction of the new Pabianice Północ and Zgierz Rudunki stops. The scope of the work requires replacement bus transport to be introduced. The changes have been included in the timetable.
