– Officers from the Criminal Unit of the Police Station in Pieńsk noticed a Peugeot traveling at excessive speed with faulty low-beam headlights – reports Commissioner Agnieszka Goguł, press officer for the County Police Commander in Zgorzelec. – The officers used light and sound signals in an attempt to stop the driver for a roadside check. Unfortunately, he ignored them and began to flee.

It did not help him much, however. The fugitive turned onto a dirt road, where the car got stuck. The 29-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County was arrested.

It quickly became clear why he had fled. As it turned out, our local man was subject to a court-ordered driving ban and had also had his driving privileges revoked by the county governor.

The man was fined for traffic offenses, while he will face court proceedings for the crimes of failing to stop for a roadside check, driving in violation of a court-ordered ban, and driving despite having his driving privileges revoked.

The 29-year-old faces between three months and as much as five years in prison.
