Customs and Tax Service officers from Zgorzelec detected the illegal import of used clothing waste from Switzerland to Poland during an inspection on the A4 motorway in Jędrzychowice.

The shipment being transported for a Polish company contained damaged footwear as well as used, dirty and unsorted clothing.
And adds:
The recipient did not have a permit to process the waste and was unable to recover or dispose of the clothing in accordance with regulations. The carrier faces a fine of PLN 13,000, while the recipient of the goods could be fined up to PLN 500,000.
Customs and Tax Service officers secured the trailer and its cargo for criminal proceedings.

We remind you that the transport of waste must be reported in the Electronic Transport Supervision System (SENT). The SENT system is a tool for combating cross-border crime. It was created to register sensitive goods such as fuel, alcohol, tobacco and waste. The system helps Customs and Tax Service officers carry out effective inspections.
