Volunteer firefighters from Czerna:

Last year, our unit took part in 118 rescue and firefighting operations, ranking fifth in our county in terms of the number of call-outs. These included:
  • 76 fires,
  • 40 local hazards,
  • 2 false alarms.

They add:

In total, our unit spent more than 204 hours carrying out various activities.

The average duration of one operation was 1 hour and 44 minutes.

In 2022, we maintained 100% turnout for call-outs. This means that at least one of our vehicles responded to every call from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec.

The most important operations last year

  1. Forest fire in Leszno Górne – the OSP Czerna crew spent 15 hours there extinguishing the burning forest litter.
  2. Forest fire in Bielawa Dolna – 72 hectares of forest were destroyed; OSP Czerna’s operations lasted more than 8 hours.
  3. Fire at a plastics processing plant in Osła. The firefighters said: – We were dispatched several times to extinguish the storage site, with the operations lasting more than 38 hours in total.
  4. Fire involving two trucks at a fuel station in Żarska Wieś.

New equipment

The uniformed personnel said:

Throughout 2022, our unit purchased additional firefighting equipment worth PLN 23,147.00.

With grant funding, we bought:

  • a vehicle winch,
  • a backpack sprayer,
  • FHR 008 Max protective clothing,
  • a multifunctional telescopic pike pole,
  • fire hoses,
  • foam generators,
  • a HOOLIGAN multifunctional tool,
  • a firefighter helmet,
  • an AC voltage detector,
  • protective gloves.

They emphasize: – In addition, our unit actively joined humanitarian aid efforts connected with the war in Ukraine. At first, we collected food at our fire station. Later, our partner unit from FFW Crosta (...) came to help, bringing food and the most necessary items for war-torn Ukraine. All the goods were delivered to a resident of our locality – Kinga Czyżniejewska, who organized the transport. For this, THANK YOU!
