The facility has a main swimming pool equipped with four swimming lanes (the pool basin is 8.5 m wide, 16.67 m long and between 0.90 m and 1.35 m deep), two saunas and two training rooms. The facility has a usable floor area of 1,679.90 m². The hall also contains a sauna area (a dry sauna and an infrared sauna), two hot tubs, a gym area, two exercise rooms and an equipment storeroom.
Delfinek will be administered by the headteacher of the school in Gromadka, and swimming clubs and swimming lessons will be available for children. At the beginning of Delfinek’s operation, school classes will be held there in the mornings, while in the afternoons it will serve residents of the commune as well as anyone interested from the surrounding area, including tourists. Tourists frequently visit Gromadka Commune, making use of agritourism, natural attractions (the Natura 2000 Lower Silesian Forests area), woodland areas and cycling trails, often as part of so-called weekend tourism.
The commune aims to improve society’s swimming skills in the future and minimise all negative consequences of being unable to behave safely in water.
The facility has been adapted for use by people with disabilities and is free of architectural barriers. The stairs in the passage connecting the school and the swimming pool will be overcome using a stair climber, which is already part of the school’s equipment. A person with a disability will be able to enter the pool basin using a sling lift. All rooms in the facility have been designed to be accessible to people with disabilities. The contractor for the project was Sirbud-Minari from Wałbrzych.
The new facility uses new, twenty-first-century technologies. Innovative solutions will reduce operating costs, particularly through energy savings, heat management, including the reduction of air pollution, as well as water consumption and purification.
