To restore rail services on the Lower Silesian Chocianów–Rokitki–Chojnów route, PLK S.A. carried out major works this year on the over 6-kilometre Rokitki–Duninów section. The work included, among other things, the renovation of the track and 12 engineering structures. Twelve level crossings were also covered by the works.
The result? The speed on the line, which had not been in use for more than twenty years, has increased to 80 km/h. Work at Rokitki station will also support efficient transport. A platform has been prepared for passengers. The works also included tracks and 12 turnouts—important elements of the railway route that ensure trains can move smoothly from one track to another.
– I am pleased that the new rail connection from Legnica to Chocianów will improve transport accessibility in Lower Silesia and make travel to other regions easier. This is the result of the involvement of local government officials, as well as the active participation of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. The role of rail as an environmentally friendly and efficient means of transport is growing – says Andrzej Bittel, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Government Plenipotentiary for Counteracting Transport Exclusion.
– The works carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. for more than PLN 24 million at the junction of lines managed by PLK S.A. and the Lower Silesian Voivodeship were important for restoring the rail connection from Chocianów to Chojnów. The completed project expands travel opportunities by rail – says Arnold Bresch, Member of the Management Board of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.
Work at Chojnów station made it possible to connect the Chojnów–Rokitki railway line (No. 316), managed by the Lower Silesian Service for Roads and Railways, to the railway network managed by PLK S.A. From Chojnów station, connections are available, among others, towards Legnica, Wrocław, or Węgliniec and Zgorzelec.
Safe train operations will be possible thanks to work involving the installation and testing of traffic control equipment at Rokitki station.
PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. allocated nearly PLN 24.5 million to the works. The work was commissioned to DOLKOM as part of the project: “Adapting the infrastructure of railway line No. 303 on the Rokitki–Duninów section managed by PLK S.A. to a speed of V = 80 km/h and connecting railway line No. 316 Chojnów–Rokitki (managed by the Lower Silesian Service for Roads and Railways) to the railway network managed by PLK S.A.—Stage I”.
