On 2 December, after a three-year break caused by sanitary restrictions, the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec organized the 22nd St. Nicholas Indoor Football Tournament for PSP Firefighters for the Gromadka Municipality Mayor’s Cup.
Firefighters: – The Gromadka Municipality was chosen as the venue for the competition for a reason, as the firefighters’ sporting event also gave Ryszard Kawka, Mayor of Gromadka Municipality, an opportunity to personally thank the firefighters who took part in the August operation to extinguish a very large fire in the municipality.

As an additional thank-you for their efforts, the municipality’s involvement in organizing the competition can be considered, including making the sports hall at the primary school available, providing refereeing support and ensuring a restorative meal.
During the opening ceremony, the mayor and Senior Brigadier Andrzej Śliwowski, District Commander of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, wished the players fair competition, no injuries and commitment at world-championship level.
The competition was held in two groups of three teams each. The two best teams from each group advanced to the semifinals, while the teams finishing third ended their campaign after just two matches.
The Group A winner, the team representing the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wrocław, defeated the joint Lwówek Śl. and Złotoryja team 2–0 in the first semifinal.
In the second semifinal, the firefighters from Żagań equalized against the team representing the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Zgorzelec in the final second of the match, making it 1–1, but they were less fortunate and lost the penalty shootout 2–0.
In the third-place match, the firefighters from Żagań defeated the combined teams from the district headquarters in Lwówek Śląski and Złotoryja 5–0.
In the final, after a very closely contested match, the team representing the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wrocław won, defeating the firefighters from Zgorzelec 1–0.
Fifth and sixth place in the tournament went to the teams from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec and the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Jelenia Góra.
The competition summary and the presentation of certificates and the winners’ cup were conducted by Senior Brigadier Marek Kamiński, Lower Silesian Provincial Commander of the State Fire Service in Wrocław.
