An example of the travel time by “KD Sprinter” train from Wrocław Główny station to Bolesławiec compared with the time needed to cover the same distance by car and at the same times of day:
KD Sprinter travel times on selected routes:
- Lubin – Wrocław – 53 min (KD Sprinter Jerzy Wilhelm)
- Wrocław – Głogów – 1 h 23 min (KD Sprinter Jan Wyżykowski)

“KD Sprinter” trains are modern, comfortable, electrified vehicles with numerous amenities, such as:
- air conditioning
- power outlets with USB ports
- Wi-Fi wireless internet
The recently purchased KD trainsets belong to the latest generation of electric trains. The Elf 2 vehicles, which operate, among other services, as “KD Sprinter” trains, have 250 seats and a special area for passengers traveling with a child in a stroller, as well as space for bicycles and additional luggage. The vehicles are also equipped with spaces for mobility scooters and wheelchairs. With them, as well as parents of small children, in mind, a spacious toilet has been installed on board. The total capacity is as many as 540 passengers. The five-car vehicles, more than 90 metres long, have eight pairs of doors each, enabling quick and efficient passenger exchange. Despite their many advantages, the cost of traveling by “Sprinter” does not differ from the ticket price for another KD train on the same route.
Fast and safe
Poor road conditions, parking problems, rising fuel prices, and the overall cost of maintaining a car mean that traveling by train is currently one of the most cost-effective forms of transport. It also gives us valuable time. Trains do not get stuck in traffic and, although they travel at high speed, they are considerably safer than cars. “Sprinter” trains are operated using ETCS (European Train Control System), which provides both in-cab signaling and monitoring of the driver’s work. The system communicates with trackside equipment, allowing current information—for example, how fast the train may travel on a given section of track—to be displayed on the control panel. This is invaluable assistance, as “Sprinter” trains can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h! The ETCS system guarantees a fast and safe journey.
An interesting fact is that over the course of our lives, we spend an average of 3 years and 11 months in a car. Most of that time is spent behind the wheel. In terms of the attention and concentration required of a driver, the role allows no compromises, which ultimately means that time spent commuting is, in a way, time wasted. Get it back—plan your journey by “Sprinter”. We will make sure you reach your destination quickly, comfortably, and safely, while you… take care of the rest!
On the train, there is time for:
- Reading – books, magazines, e-books—everything for which we usually lack free time during the day. A new book by your favorite writer? Go ahead, you have time for it during the journey!
- Studying – use your travel time to gain knowledge and improve your qualifications. What’s more, on the train you can be sure that the noise at home and everyday duties will not distract you.
- Work – reply to overdue emails, review the presentation you are due to give, and rehearse your speech. Research conducted by scientists from University College London showed that people who prepare for the day ahead on their way to work, and distance themselves from their professional duties on the way home, experience significantly less stress and see their productivity increase.
- Relaxation – relax and watch the landscape change outside the window. Do you remember how much joy this brought you as a child? We assure you—it does not disappear with age! The picturesque landscapes of Lower Silesia are best admired from a train window.
