As reported by Bolesławiec City Hall:

The funding, amounting to 85 percent of the project’s value, will be allocated, among other things, to new pedestrian crossings, speed humps, and time and speed displays.

What tasks have been planned?

  1. raising the pedestrian crossing on Jana Pawła II Street;
  2. raising the pedestrian crossing with a cycle crossing on Sierpnia ’80 Street;
  3. raising the pedestrian crossing on Wybickiego Street;
  4. raising the pedestrian crossing on Obrońców Helu Street;
  5. raising the pedestrian crossing on Teatralna Street;
    (City Hall: The purpose of raising all the above crossings is to improve pedestrian visibility and force vehicles approaching the crossing to reduce their speed).
  6. a pedestrian refuge island on Zgorzelecka Street;
  7. a pedestrian refuge island on Komuny Paryskiej Street;
  8. a pedestrian refuge island on Zygmunta Augusta Street;
    (The purpose of all the pedestrian refuge islands listed above is to improve pedestrian safety by providing a safe waiting area and shortening the section of roadway to be crossed).
  9. a speed cushion on Starzyńskiego Street;
    (The purpose of installing the speed cushion is to limit speed on the road).
  10. a time display (the so-called countdown timer) at the intersection of A. Asnyka and K. Marki – locations: A. Asnyka, Sierpnia Street – 2 units; A. Asnyka – Tysiąclecia Avenue – 2 units; K. Miarki – 2 units; Żwirki i Wigury – 2 units;
  11. a time display (the so-called countdown timer) at the Tamka – T. Kościuszki intersection – 2 units;
  12. a time display (the so-called countdown timer) at the Grunwaldzka – Tamka intersection – 2 units;
    (The purpose of installing all the time displays listed above is to increase safety when crossing pedestrian crossings for people with visual or hearing disabilities, as well as seniors).
  13. a speed display – Tysiąclecia Avenue;
    (The purpose of installing the speed display is to calm traffic on critical road sections.
  14. a time and reaction trainer (simulator) – equipping Primary School No. 3 named after the Home Army in Bolesławiec with an educational tool concerning road traffic;
    (The purchase of one educational tool is dictated by the need to provide practical instruction in participating in road traffic, including by verifying reaction time to light stimuli and observing the surroundings).

Bolesławiec City Hall adds:

Eligible expenditure: PLN 237,883.25.
Requested EU funding: PLN 202,200.76.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2023.
