On 22 November 2022, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the duty officer at the County Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski received a report of an unusual discovery. Lwówek police:

At the scene, officers determined that in Lwówek Śląski, on Wojska Polskiego Avenue, while cleaning a stream, an employee of the company carrying out the work had unearthed unexploded ordnance from World War II.

The officers add:

A police bomb-disposal technician determined that it was a mortar shell from World War II.

The dangerous discovery was dealt with today by soldiers from the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment.

The police emphasize:

We remind you and appeal that, if you find objects that even resemble unexploded ordnance, you should immediately notify the nearest Police unit.
