Officers from the Economic Crime Department of the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters arrested a dishonest postal worker and her accomplice. Both detainees are residents of Legnica County. – The 21-year-old woman and 30-year-old man are suspected of having, between October 2022 and November 2022, acted jointly and in agreement to prevent many people living in Legnica from accessing information contained in postal items addressed to them – reports junior warrant officer Anna Tersa from the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters.
She adds:
Instead of delivering the items to their recipients, the postal worker hid some of them in private premises—her own and her accomplice’s. During searches, officers from the Economic Crime Department discovered nearly 1,000 undelivered postal items. The items recovered by the officers will soon be delivered to their recipients.
The 21-year-old explained that the bag of letters was too heavy for her and that, additionally, she had met a boyfriend whom she fell in love with and had no time to deliver the letters.
The prosecutor’s office imposed bail of PLN 5,000 on both detainees. The couple are also subject to police supervision and a travel ban, combined with the seizure of their passports.
The fake postal worker and her partner face up to two years in prison.
