– Officers from the Kruszyna Police Station received a report of money being stolen using the “flat tire” method – reports staff sergeant Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters. – The victim, returning from a petrol station, noticed that his vehicle transporter was leaning to one side. It turned out that one of the tires was flat.
She adds: – While the driver was changing the tire, money intended for purchasing vehicles was stolen from the open cabin.
The thieves made off with cash: over PLN 18,000 and EUR 4,900.
The uniformed officers warn:
This is another incident recorded on or near the highway. Victims are often observed as early as in the vicinity of currency exchange offices, where they exchange money, or at a petrol station. It is there that the perpetrators cut the tire on the driver’s side of the vehicle transporter, forcing the driver to repair the damage while on the highway, on the side facing the traffic lanes. This gives the thieves an opportunity to approach the vehicle freely and steal property.
