The Borsuk-22 exercise was the second most important exercise of the year for the soldiers from Świętoszów. Before the training could begin, the armoured troops had to move east, to the area of Nowa Dęba. Some of the forces used the so-called Hussar Route. This is a section approximately 630 kilometres long, much of which runs through forest roads and fields. Wheeled vehicles travelled along it, while tracked vehicles were moved by rail.
The soldiers began the exercises at the training ground in Nowa Dęba with fire-control training. The firing was carried out, among others, by Leopard and Abrams tanks, Rosomak and Bradley armoured personnel carriers, and Spike and Piorun launchers. Aviation and air-defence subunits also provided support to the subunits. After the fire-control training ended, the tactical part of the exercise began. The forces of the 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade were to launch a rapid strike from Nowa Dęba towards Lipa and destroy the enemy subunits, portrayed by soldiers of the 17th Wielkopolska Mechanised Brigade. Among other things, the attackers had to deal with an attack involving chemical weapons.
One of the more important episodes was also the fight to seize a strategic point—the Huta Stalowa Wola steelworks. The soldiers of the 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade were tasked with supporting a Territorial Defence Force subunit that was defending the plant buildings.
