What About Coal for the Winter? Important Meeting of Local Government Officials from 5 Municipalities

On October 13, a meeting of local government officials from five municipalities in Bolesławiec County was held at Bolesławiec Town Hall. The subject? Solutions concerning the purchase and distribution of coal for residents of Bolesławiec and the municipalities of Gromadka, Osiecznica, Warta Bolesławiecka and Bolesławiec. The meeting with the heads of the municipal authorities was attended by Jarosław Kowalski, president of the Heating Energy Company in Bolesławiec. Bolesławiec City Hall: – Under the law currently in force, Bolesławiec’s ZEC is an entity registered in the central register of excise-duty entities as an intermediary coal entity.

During the meeting, the local government officials responded positively to the possibility of coal distribution by ZEC, while also not ruling out other entities involved in coal trading.

The local government officials are eagerly awaiting clarification of the bills on coal distribution and counteracting high electricity prices proposed by the government, which yesterday (October 12, 2022) received a positive opinion from the Joint Commission of the Government and Local Government.

Officials emphasize:

The Mayor of Bolesławiec and the heads of the municipalities are prepared to carry out the task as quickly as possible; however, several technical and organizational issues related to coal distribution require clarification, including the possibility of purchase by the municipality or company, the price of coal (various prices per ton are currently in circulation), compensation, payment methods (including the possibility of deferred payment), potential complaints, transport financing, sales limits, record-keeping, and so on.

They add: – The local government officials from the five municipalities of Bolesławiec County hope that work on completing the bills will finish as soon as possible and that the relevant bills will be considered by the Sejm at its next sitting. The municipalities will then cooperate so that coal reaches interested residents as quickly as possible.
