As reported by the Wrocław branch of GDDKiA:
We are systematically expanding Lower Silesia’s roads, improving their standards and the safety of travelers. Preparing each new investment for implementation requires design work, obtaining the appropriate decisions and securing funding. Only then can a tender be announced to select a contractor.
What about the A4?
Road officials:
On June 21, 2021, we signed an agreement to prepare documentation for the construction or expansion of the A4 motorway on the section from the Legnica Południe interchange to the Wrocław Wschód/Stary Śleszów interchange, approximately 80 km long, as well as for the construction of the S5 Bolków–Sobótka expressway, approximately 50 km long. From January to the end of February this year, we conducted the first round of public information meetings, at which preliminary A4 and S5 route corridors were presented. The meetings were organized for 21 municipalities through which the planned route variants run. Work on STEŚ is currently underway, as is an environmental inventory. The second round of information meetings for residents is planned for the fourth quarter of this year; during these meetings, we will present the results of the public feedback collected during the first part of the meetings.
They add:
We signed the agreement to prepare documentation for the A4 section from Krzyżowa to Legnica on June 28, 2021. The approximately 36 km section of the A4 motorway will be expanded along its existing route, and each carriageway will have three lanes and an emergency lane. In some places, this will involve building a new carriageway parallel to the existing one, while in other places the existing carriageways will be expanded. In March this year, public information meetings were held in six municipalities through which the planned route variants run. STEŚ is currently being prepared, while an environmental inventory is also being carried out in the field.
What about the A18?
The Wrocław branch of GDDKiA:
The agreement for design work on the Krzyżowa–Golnice section was signed on October 9, 2019. It is the last, less-than-four-kilometer section of the A18 between Olszyna and Krzyżowa, which, like the remaining sections, will be adapted to the technical parameters currently in force, thereby improving road traffic safety. Emergency lanes 3 meters wide will be built on both sides of the motorway. The contractor is preparing the technical design and detailed execution designs, as well as the tender documentation. We are currently awaiting the ZRID decision. Construction of the entire A18 section from Olszyna to Golnice is currently underway.
