Police officers from the station in Kruszyna detained a 27-year-old resident of Gromadka Municipality moments after he committed the crime. KPP Bolesławiec:
At the perpetrator’s place of residence, community police officers secured the stolen cables.

The suspect was charged. Officers proved that he had committed three thefts of network cable buried in the ground along the railway track.

The man did not have to walk far. The crime scenes were located approximately half a kilometre from his home.
Each time, the 27-year-old acted in the same way: he walked with a cart to the area near the tracks, then used an axe to cut the cable in two places and pull it out of the ground. Police: – In total, he caused losses worth PLN 5,000 to PKP. By cutting the cable, the man damaged the line through which the dispatcher received warning signals.
The 27-year-old confessed. He now faces between six months and as many as eight years in prison.
