As read on the website of Gmina Nowogrodziec:
We would like to inform you that in October–November 2022, inspections will be carried out at properties equipped with cesspools (septic tanks) and household wastewater treatment plants. Pursuant to the Act on Maintaining Cleanliness and Order in Municipalities, municipalities are required to keep a register of cesspools (septic tanks). Compliance with the applicable regulations in this area, which are being tightened both at the national and EU levels, is motivated primarily by concern for the environment.
Municipal officials add:
In view of the above, we would like to inform you that intensified inspections will be carried out in Gmina Nowogrodziec at properties with cesspools.
Under the applicable regulations, owners of properties not connected to the sanitary sewer system are required, in the event of an inspection, to document how liquid waste is removed from their property. The frequency of liquid-waste collection should prevent waste from overflowing from the tank and ensure continuous use of the septic tank. However, waste should be collected no less frequently than once every quarter. In the case of household wastewater treatment plants, it should be remembered that there is an obligation to remove sewage sludge from them (in accordance with the operating instructions for the household wastewater treatment plant).
And they add:
The operation of a household wastewater treatment plant with a capacity not exceeding 7.5 m3/d must additionally be reported to the Municipal Office in Nowogrodziec. Wastewater collection services may be performed only by businesses holding a permit to conduct activities involving the emptying of cesspools and the transport of liquid waste, issued by the Mayor of Nowogrodziec (the list is available on the website of the Municipal Office in Nowogrodziec). Property owners who have not fulfilled the obligations arising from the Act—that is, have not signed agreements for emptying cesspools or removing sludge from household wastewater treatment plants—should do so immediately.
