The incident took place on Saturday, 10 September, in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki. Before 9:00 p.m., the van driver, aged 43, lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a passenger car travelling correctly.

The test showed that the perpetrator had more than 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. The man's driving licence was immediately confiscated. The resident of Greater Poland Voivodeship will face charges for driving while intoxicated.

The officers add:

The people travelling in the passenger car were taken to hospital for examination. Depending on their injuries, the 43-year-old will additionally be charged with causing a collision or a road accident.

And they remind us: – Intoxicated drivers pose a threat to all road users. If someone has consumed alcohol, they must not get behind the wheel.
