Excerpts from the gala’s artistic program:

Congratulations to all the award recipients. Congratulations also to the teachers, parents and guardians of the honored students.

Eighth-grade graduates with documented academic achievements and outstanding eighth-grade examination results received Bolesławiec Mayor’s Awards, which include a financial benefit. The award amounts to PLN 1,000. The basic criteria for nominating primary-school graduates residing in the city of Bolesławiec for the “Bolesławiec Mayor’s Award” for special achievements in the 2021/2022 school year are: an average grade of at least 5.1; exemplary or very good conduct; eighth-grade examination results of 75% to 100% in Polish and a foreign language, and 70% to 100% in mathematics. In the eighth-grade examination, the required thresholds must be achieved in at least two sections.

Nominated graduates must have individual achievements, rather than team achievements, in competitions, contests and olympiads at least at the district level: first places in district and regional competitions (finalists); finalists in voivodeship, national and international competitions, olympiads and contests (first, second or third place). Outstanding achievements deserving recognition and resulting from basic activities carried out as part of fulfilling the school obligation are also scored. Graduates’ achievements apply only to students entered for competitions by their school.

“Today’s ceremony is a jubilee event, as 25 years have passed since the first ceremony that marked the beginning of the idea of honoring talented young people in Bolesławiec. For a quarter of a century, Bolesławiec schools have implemented and continue to implement a program supporting talented students. Teachers create countless opportunities to showcase talents, develop skills and present achievements,” emphasizes Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman. The annual ceremonies honoring talented young people also aim to integrate school communities, promote schools’ achievements and recognize parents’ commitment.

If it is a jubilee, a little history is in order. The name “Talent of the Year” first appeared in 2014. During the gala ceremony, 136 students were honored, receiving commemorative pens instead of books for the first time. In 2016, the Bolesławiec Mayor’s Awards were presented for the first time, replacing scholarships. At that time, 12 primary- and middle-school students received awards.

The jubilee ceremony and its artistic program were prepared by the community of Primary School No. 4 in Bolesławiec.
