On September 2, during the ninth edition of the Polsat Boxing Promotions gala Denis Mądry, a soldier of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów on a daily basis, defeated his opponent Kewin Gibas in spectacular fashion. As the gala organizers wrote:
It was a truly spectacular knockout!
Denis Mądry comes from Lubań. It was there that his boxing adventure began five years ago. And it was a doubly happy adventure, because he met his fiancée at the gym; she also trains in boxing.
When he was sparring in Germany, he was offered the opportunity to have his first professional fight. – And that’s how it stayed – the boxer says in an interview with istotne.pl. The fighter currently has more professional boxing bouts to his name than amateur ones.
Denis Mądry now trains under the guidance of Sergeant Eliasz Jankowski, a former soldier of the 10BKPanc and a multiple world kickboxing champion. It was E. Jankowski who prepared him for the fight against Gibas. Preparing for the September bout was not easy. – We had been preparing for a different fight, but the promoters changed our opponent – the boxer recalls.
What’s more, D. Mądry’s opponent had previously won all his fights before the final bell; it was therefore difficult to identify his weak points. But during the bout, our soldier got an opportunity to land a punch he had honed in training. Then he landed it again. And that was enough. His opponent hit the canvas.
We ask our soldier: why boxing? – People often foolishly repeat: “You hit each other in the face, so it fuels aggression.” That’s not true. Since I started training in boxing, I haven’t had any altercations; all the bad emotions are worked off in training. This sport teaches humility and character – the boxer explains. – Besides, it is a gentleman’s sport: there is no fighting on the ground or attacking the back of the head. Michalczewski once said that boxing is like chess. And that’s true. I recommend this sport to everyone.
Friday’s fight was Denis Mądry’s second bout for PBP. And probably not his last. (Especially after such a spectacular knockout.) The armored soldier himself says that he can be seen in the ring again before the end of this year.
