The incident took place during the night of 28–29 August on Kościuszki Street in Bolesławiec. Suspicious individuals were allegedly moving around one of the properties. Security personnel were called to the scene. We learned unofficially that warning shots were fired at the time. One of the suspected men was apprehended and later handed over to the police.
We asked the Bolesławiec police about the shots fired near Kościuszki Street. They replied as follows:
A 43-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County, apprehended by security personnel (…) while committing fuel theft and handed over to police officers for further proceedings.
The District Police Headquarters added:
During the intervention, the police officers did not use their service firearms.
Let us recall that theft is punishable by between three months and as much as five years in prison. Burglary can result in a prison sentence of up to ten years.
