There are many Zagłębie Lubin fans in Bolesławiec and the surrounding area who travel to matches and cheer on the team. There are also people who were associated with Zagłębie and even played in Lubin’s colours.
That is why we are reporting on the initiative to create the Zagłębie Lubin Museum. One of the people behind the idea of establishing the museum, Krzysztof Kostka, a fan, historian and collector of Zagłębie Lubin memorabilia, told us about the initiative. He is a member of the Polish Association of Football Historians and Statisticians.
Krzysztof Kostka was born in Bolesławiec. He has been a Zagłębie fan since childhood. He runs the unofficial Zagłębiak website dedicated to the club. Together with several other people, Krzysztof decided to create a museum commemorating the rich history of the Zagłębie Lubin club.
Together with the people behind the museum initiative, we appeal to those who have memorabilia, merchandise, kits, tickets... or even information about the club from Lubin and its history. Perhaps you know someone who has items related to Zagłębie Lubin?
Zagłębiak website about the initiative and contact details:
(...) Before a venue is established, we want to operate under the hashtag #muzeumZagłębiaLubin and show you how many valuable memorabilia are held by people who have been associated with the club for years. We kindly ask you to contact us and provide memorabilia or lend them to us for scanning, photographing and preparing a catalogue intended to show how many memorabilia could be placed in a venue of which we would be proud.
As we know very well, the club had many sections that were the pride of the city and the region. Many young players developed by the club represented regional and national teams. If you have sports kits in which you played in a particular section, equipment, footwear, skates, paddles or tennis rackets, we invite you to get in touch. In addition, every photograph, newspaper or chronicle, ticket, match programme, pennant, medal or trophy can show the effort you put into our shared good, Zagłębie Lubin.
Please ask around among your family, neighbours and friends. Let us do something together so that our children and grandchildren will know what Zagłębie means to us, what it has meant and what it will mean many years from now. May the mark left by the people who created this club remain permanent. Let us finally appreciate the history and tradition of Zagłębie Lubin. Let us appreciate the people associated with the club!!!
What we find in archives, libraries and other institutions is only a fraction of what we can save and preserve through our joint efforts. That is why we appeal for responses, for sharing and for informing us about family memorabilia, stories and archives. Every “banal” piece of information will be carefully followed up and checked by us. Every exhibit will be meticulously stored. We do not want to take anything from anyone; we only want to catalogue as many exhibits as possible and preserve them for future generations.
