To mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of the brilliant composer, the Chopin Concert was held on Wednesday, May 19, at the Youth Cultural Center. Students of the State Music School and the Tygrys Ogłuszony Domem theater group performed.
That afternoon, awards and distinctions were also presented to participants in a competition for a poster promoting Chopin Year. The winners were congratulated by Bolesławiec County Board member Dariusz Kwaśniewski and Deputy Chair of the County Council Jarosław Molenda.
“Wanting to deepen my knowledge of Fryderyk Chopin, I learned that his father had Polish roots because the ancestors of the Chopin family were simply called Szop,” said Dariusz Kwaśniewski. “In any case, Chopin’s Polish identity is indisputable,” he added with a smile.
