The incident occurred on Friday, July 29, in Kraśnik Górny. (We reported more extensively on the matter in the article Series of major fires in the county, huge losses. Firefighters: arson cannot be ruled out). – While carrying out their official duties, officers from the Bolesławiec traffic police noticed billowing smoke over the forest. They immediately stopped what they were doing and set off to locate the source of the fire – reports Staff Sergeant Paweł Noga from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
He adds: – Several hundred metres farther on, they noticed that the stubble was burning. There was a field of grain and a forest nearby. Through the duty officer, the officers called the fire service to the scene and began evacuating the people on the nearby field, along with their agricultural machinery.
At that time, another traffic police officer was driving near the burning stubble. He was already off duty, but immediately joined his colleagues fighting the fire.
The spokesperson adds:
Another patrol from a nearby police station also arrived at the scene. Seeing how quickly the fire was spreading towards the roadway, the officers blocked the road with their patrol cars so that none of the road users would enter the danger zone.
The firefighters then took over and extinguished the fire. Approximately 5 hectares of grain and stubble were burned. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the fire did not reach the forest.
