There was an incident on Legnicka Street in Złotoryja. – Police findings indicate that the driver of a Renault, a 19-year-old resident of Złotoryja, failed to adjust her speed to the prevailing traffic conditions and rear-ended a Volkswagen passenger car – explains junior warrant officer Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – At the time of the incident, the driver of that vehicle, a 42-year-old resident of Środa County, had stopped before a marked pedestrian crossing to give way to a pedestrian.

The result? The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen were taken by ambulance to hospital. Fortunately, it turned out that they had suffered only minor injuries.

The spokesperson said: – Road traffic officers, assisted by a forensic technician, carried out a number of procedural activities at the scene. These included an inspection of the scene and the vehicles, incident sketches and photographic documentation.

The Renault driver’s licence was confiscated. The court will now decide her fate. The officers said:

In view of the above incident, we appeal to drivers to exercise caution on the road. Let us pay attention to road signs and to what is happening on the roadway and in its immediate surroundings. To avoid rear-end collisions, remember to keep an appropriate distance. This is especially important after rainfall, when the road is slippery and braking distances are therefore longer.

They added:

Let us remember that every driver approaching a marked pedestrian crossing is obliged to exercise particular caution. They should slow down and observe their surroundings so as not to endanger a pedestrian who is on the crossing or entering it.
