A reader drew attention to a problem that has existed for many years.
The waterfall beneath the viaduct was supposed to be Bolesławiec’s showcase. Unfortunately, it is a place that is supposedly monitored, yet forgotten by the police and municipal guard. A meeting place for local undesirables. A small municipal rubbish dump. A walk with the dog ended with a visit to the vet, paw surgery and the dog’s suffering.
Indeed, the area by the viaduct is a place where people hold drinking parties and then smash bottles. There are countless shards of glass. When walking in this area, you have to be careful not to injure yourself.
The reader decided to take action regarding the littered area by the viaduct and waterfall. She will not stop at informing us; she wants to sue the city.
Next week I am collecting the signatures of owners of injured dogs for a class-action lawsuit seeking compensation from the city. Perhaps something like this will teach our helpless councillors to care for our city’s historic monuments.
What do you think about the lawsuit? Is this a way to improve conditions around the waterfall and by the viaduct?
Update 21:45
As the city’s spokesperson Agnieszka Gergont informed us, unfortunately, the city does not own the area by the viaduct.
In the article “Bloody Walk on Glass by the Viaduct. The Dog Ended Up at the Vet,” the entity responsible for managing the area shown in the photographs was incorrectly identified. It is very sad that the dog was injured and is exposed to suffering, but the city of Bolesławiec is not the addressee of any claims because it does not manage the area.
