– Just before 6:00 a.m., officers from the Traffic Division of the Jawor police command stopped a man for inspection who was cycling along the S3 expressway. By choosing this route, the cyclist was putting his own life and the lives of others at risk – says Staff Sergeant Krzysztof Marcjan from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

According to the report, the cyclist was travelling in the lane toward Legnica. Spokesperson: – The officers quickly located the cyclist and stopped him for inspection.

The 76-year-old resident of Brzeg explained to the officers that he was going to Legnica for tourist purposes. He said he simply wanted to shorten his route by travelling along the expressway.

The reckless senior was fined 250 zlotys. He was escorted by a police car to a safe place from which he could continue his journey.

Police:

We remind you that cyclists are not allowed to use expressways or motorways. This also applies when a cyclist travels along the emergency lane or the shoulder. Failure to follow these rules may pose a serious danger to the cyclist, as well as to other road users.
