The soldiers from the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment reported the matter on their social media profile:

Today, operations are underway in Lubań County.

They added that it concerned an “artillery shell found during exploratory searches.”

Update: 2022-07-08

As it turned out, it was not an artillery shell but a Soviet-made 120 mm O-843 mortar round. The Bolesławiec bomb-disposal specialists said: – It has already been neutralized by us.

As reported on its Facebook profile by the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol:

Our page is dedicated to educating the public about the hazards posed by unexploded ordnance, duds, and military-origin explosive and dangerous items, as well as the rules for dealing with them after they are found.

It should be understood that explosives used in military technology are, in practice, completely resistant to weather conditions and retain their explosive properties regardless of their date of manufacture.

The bomb-disposal specialists add:

If you have any doubts about an object you have found, call the bomb-disposal specialists.

The bomb-disposal specialists will remove the danger; they are properly trained and equipped to do so.

What should you do if you find unexploded ordnance or a dud?

  1. Do not touch the object.
  2. Secure the area from bystanders (e.g. children) and mark it.
  3. Report the matter immediately by calling the emergency number 112; notify the police, municipal police, fire service, or forestry service.
