Bolesławiec police report: – On Thursday, June 30, a fraud targeting an elderly person took place in Bolesławiec.

What method did the fraudsters use?

The 87-year-old received a call from a man who introduced himself as his son. The senior was told that a tragic road accident had occurred, in which a German citizen had been injured.

A quasi-prosecutor then joined the conversation and told the victim that he urgently had to pay 85,000 euros so that the case would not be reported to the police.

The fraudsters were extremely cunning. Officers:

The Bolesławiec resident was deeply concerned about the situation of his family member and declared that he would help. Before handing over the cash, however, he wanted to verify the information he had received. He thought he had called his daughter-in-law, who confirmed that his son had been involved in the accident. But that was not the case.

How was that possible? Police: – All the calls were made from the same telephone, whose line was kept busy by the criminals the entire time, and the female voice on the phone did not belong to the son’s wife.

The result? The 87-year-old – following instructions – handed over PLN 100,000 to a “policewoman” who came to his apartment building. In this way, he lost his life savings.
