During the June session of the Bolesławiec City Council, the issue of refugees from Ukraine resurfaced. Mayor Piotr Roman stressed that he had met with Lower Silesian Voivode Jarosław Obremski. During the meeting, an issue related, among other things, to payments concerning refugees was discussed.
The mayor stated that state subsidies were now coming to an end and that Poles were asking Ukrainian citizens to leave their homes. The local government must deal with this situation. Therefore, the Municipality of Bolesławiec will probably take over from the State Treasury the former District Police Headquarters building on Zygmunta Augusta Street and create temporary accommodation there for war refugees. (To the standard of a workers’ hotel.)
Both UMWD and DUW have already declared their support for Bolesławiec City Hall in this matter.
– This is bad news for the director of MOPS – P. Roman added. (It was precisely in this building that the center’s new headquarters was supposed to be located.)
