Honorary Awards
Bolesławiec Forest District
Bolesławiec Forest District runs public forest-education initiatives. Its educational offer is aimed at children, young people and adults, including people with disabilities. The aim is to disseminate knowledge about the forest environment and sustainable forest management. Joint activities between the Forest District, the Municipal Centre for Ecological Education, schools and the Bolesławiec ZHP Scout Troop have a long tradition and take the form of workshops, knowledge competitions and tree-planting campaigns. Bolesławiec Forest District is open to cooperation with local communities aimed at developing recreation and sport in forest areas and promoting physical activity in nature.
Anna Krejci
Anna Krejci lives permanently in the United States, where she runs a ceramics shop. She cooperates with ceramic companies from Bolesławiec, giving American customers an opportunity to discover ceramics produced in Bolesławiec. She prepared and published a film covering the 2021 Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival and presenting the city’s most important historic landmarks. Anna Krejci is working to establish a European Art Centre in Louisville, Kentucky, where Bolesławiec ceramics will be presented and which will serve as a meeting place for artists from Bolesławiec and American admirers of Bolesławiec ceramics.
Road-Racing.pl Association
The Road-Racing.pl Association brings together road-cycling enthusiasts from Lower Silesia. Since its establishment in 2015, the association has organised many cycling competitions, including several editions of the “Via Dolny Śląsk” cycling event. Several hundred riders start in each edition. In addition, in 2021 association members, wearing jerseys bearing the coat of arms of Bolesławiec, achieved high placings in cycling competitions held in Lower Silesia. Reports from cycling competitions involving association members are published on the website and social media.
Water and Sewerage Company in Bolesławiec Sp. z o.o.
The company consistently introduces modern solutions aligned with the Smart City concept, increasing the efficiency of municipal investments and enabling more sustainable urban development. Together with Orange Polska, the company implemented a system enabling fully remote, unattended water-meter readings as part of the transition from a radio system to GSM. The solution provides automatic meter readings every hour and sends reports once a day. These solutions were recognised by the jury of the Smart City Competition, which awarded the City of Bolesławiec the title of The Most Smart City.
Wspierajmy Zdrowie Foundation
The Wspierajmy Zdrowie Foundation, operating at the Św. Łukasza hospital in Bolesławiec, was established in 2007. Its main objective is to carry out tasks related to health protection and promotion. The Foundation fulfils its mission, among other ways, by purchasing medical equipment, providing financial support, organising and initiating meetings and training related to prevention and health. Wspierajmy Zdrowie is an organisation bringing together people who care about the health of residents of Bolesławiec County. In 2021, the Foundation co-organised the “Miejcie nadzieję” concert, expressing gratitude for the hard work and dedication of everyone fighting the SARS–CoV–2 virus on the front line.

Dorota Stanałowska
Ms Dorota Stanałowska is a teacher at Primary School No. 5 in Bolesławiec. In 2021, in the competition for the world’s best teacher organised by the international AKS Education Awards foundation based in New Delhi, India, she received the prestigious title of Global Teacher Award 2021. Ms Dorota is a coordinator and mentor of eTwinning projects, which have received numerous national and European distinctions.
Jan Kochanowski Complex of Schools of Commerce and Services in Bolesławiec
In the nationwide Perspektywy ranking in the “Best technical schools” category, Technical School No. 5 received a silver shield. In the 2021 Ranking of Voivodeship Technical Schools – Lower Silesia, it was ranked ninth, the highest position among upper-secondary schools in Bolesławiec. In 2021, the school’s students achieved significant success in nationwide knowledge Olympiads and national-level sports competitions: fourth place for a school student in the Nationwide Olympiad of Agricultural Knowledge and Skills, and sixth place for the school’s team in the Nationwide Girls’ and Boys’ School Athletics League Competition for the Cup of the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport.
Primary School No. 2 in Bolesławiec
Primary School No. 2 participates in numerous international educational projects. One of them is the 2019–2021 project “Integration, adaptation, acceptance, support for third-country nationals residing in Lower Silesia,” which included classes designed to help students from other countries integrate and adapt to their new environment. The school also took part in many nationwide projects, while its students achieved numerous successes in competitions and sports events. The entire school community participates in organising municipal ceremonies and recurring charity campaigns.
Municipal Public Kindergarten No. 2 named after Maria Konopnicka in Bolesławiec
Municipal Public Kindergarten No. 2 in Bolesławiec focuses on creating conditions for the development of its pupils’ skills and creative cooperation with the local community. In 2021, the kindergarten carried out many initiatives promoting Bolesławiec in Poland and abroad. It took part in various activities, including “Optimist Day,” the international Happy Kindergarten Programme, National Sports Day, the nationwide educational and charity campaign “Tulipan Mocy,” the nationwide charity campaign “Łańcuch dobra,” International Children’s Rights Day and many municipal initiatives.
Janusz Korczak II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec
For many years, Janusz Korczak II General Secondary School in Bolesławiec has promoted the city through students’ participation in nationwide competitions, the school’s involvement in European projects and cooperation with numerous institutions, including the Ministry of National Defence, military universities, the Regional IT Centre in Wrocław, the Centre for Citizenship Education and the Polish-American Freedom Foundation in Warsaw. In 2021, the school was admitted to the Ministry of National Defence’s “Cyber Mil z Klasą” programme, which enabled it to create a class specialising in cybersecurity and modern information technologies. On 28 May 2021, the school hosted the Nationwide Conference for Disseminating Formative Assessment, which concluded the “Comprehensive School Development” activity under the “Learning School” programme.
Izabela Kulpa and Teresa Prokowska
Teachers at Primary School No. 1 in Bolesławiec, Izabela Kulpa and Teresa Prokowska, achieved success in nationwide and international competitions and educational projects in 2021. They won an award in a nationwide competition on the Norwegian and EEA Funds. They received the prestigious “Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert” title in the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 editions. Thanks to their work, the school received an award in the Nationwide Competition for the best implementation of the “All of Poland Reads to Kids” campaign in the 2020/2021 school year. They coordinate projects recognised in national and international competitions. The teachers represented Bolesławiec at European and nationwide conferences and webinars. They publish information about the school’s activities in nationwide educational journals and publications of the National eTwinning Office.
Municipal Public Kindergarten No. 7 with integrated classes in Bolesławiec
Municipal Public Kindergarten No. 7 promotes Bolesławiec through participation in numerous local, nationwide and European projects. The kindergarten carried out the project “Sensory integration – an investment in children’s future,” which contributed to an exchange of experience between Polish and Czech early-years teachers, and the project “Do something good for yourself,” whose aims included raising awareness of healthy-eating principles and increasing children’s sports activity. The kindergarten also participated in many nationwide programmes, projects and charity campaigns.
Culture
Karolina Zdunek
Karolina Zdunek is a finalist in the nationwide competition for theatre texts “Młod(sz)a Polska,” organised by the Helena Modrzejewska National Old Theatre in Kraków. Her play “Pustostan” received a staged reading at the Old Theatre in Kraków as one of three dramas selected from ten awarded final entries. In addition, Karolina Zdunek took second place in the youth category of the nationwide competition for young playwrights, “Szukamy Polskiego Szeksipra.”
Błażej Biegasiewcz
Błażej Biegasiewicz is a third-year student at the Directing Department of the Stanisław Wyspiański Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków. In 2020–2021, he was assistant director to Iwona Kempa in the play “Spóźnione odwiedziny,” produced at the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Kraków. In October 2021, he made his professional-stage debut at the New Theatre in Zabrze with an adaptation of the drama “Belfer.” In November 2021, he received the Grand Prize of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage at the 11th Young Directors’ Forum for his original play “Ojcowie.” Błażej Biegasiewicz was invited to an artistic internship in the 2022/2023 season at the Rozmaitości Theatre in Warsaw and invited to the stage of the Ludowy Theatre in Kraków, with a proposal to present the award-winning play.
Wiktoria Eliaszewicz
In 2021, Wiktoria Eliaszewicz achieved high placings in numerous international, national and regional piano and vocal competitions, reviews and festivals. Among other achievements, she was a first-degree laureate of the 19th DIGI-TALENTY SUMMER 2021 Internet Competition within the “Kaleidoscope of Talents” International Festival Project, as well as a laureate of the 20th DIGI-TALENTY AUTUMN 2021 International Competition in the Vocal Solo/MIDI category. She also received a distinction at the 2nd Nationwide Winter Playing Festival in Gdynia. She took first place in the 2021 Cantate Domino Religious Song Review for Children and Young People and first place in the 3rd Review of Carols, Pastorales and Nativity Plays in Bolesławiec in 2021.
S. Wyspiański Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec
The Stanisław Wyspiański Youth Cultural Centre in Bolesławiec represented the city of Bolesławiec in numerous competitions, concerts and performances in 2021. It also participated in the Polish-German project “Lower Silesia yesterday–today–tomorrow,” which concluded with an exhibition of works at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre and a museum in Krobnitz, Germany. The vocal studio took part in the Polish-Czech project “Vocal Meetings,” resulting in concerts in Bolesławiec and Přerov, Czechia. The art studios, vocal studio, theatre studios and sports bridge studio run by the Youth Cultural Centre can boast many awards and distinctions won in 2021.
Social
Society of Friends of Lviv and the South-Eastern Borderlands
In 2021, the Society of Friends of Lviv and the South-Eastern Borderlands was highly active in Poland and abroad. As part of a project co-financed by the POLONIKA Institute of Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad, association members cleaned historic Polish cemeteries in Ukraine and took part in a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the murder of the Lviv professors. The Society was also active during the Nationwide Meeting of Borderlands Communities. In cooperation with the Municipal Public Library–Knowledge Centre in Bolesławiec, the Borderlands community organised a “Borderlands Corner” containing literature about the Borderlands and offering author meetings with writers addressing Borderlands topics. The Society organised a campaign to deliver Christmas parcels to residents of the partner city of Zbarazh.
“Kolonia” Sports Club Bolesławiec
In 2021, “Kolonia” Sports Club Bolesławiec was involved in numerous charitable initiatives and in promoting physical activity. The club organised a fundraiser for a 19-year-old footballer from Górnik Konin who required costly rehabilitation after an accident. Club members organised sports and educational activities for residents of the District Rehabilitation Centre in Iwiny. Together with the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in Bolesławiec, the club organised the “Mikołajkowy Football Tournament” for students from Bolesławiec schools and residents of educational centres in Iwiny and Lwówek Śląski. Club members also carried out the “Paczka od Kolonii” campaign, whose aim was to give a Christmas gift to a family in a difficult life situation.
Sport
Michał Zazula
The athlete of the “Bolesłavia” Inter-school Sports Club became Poland’s indoor athletics combined-events runner-up at the 2021 Polish Indoor Championships in Toruń, scoring 4,740 points. Michał Zazula was runner-up in the long jump at the Polish Junior Championships in Lublin and at the Polish Championships of Rural Sports Clubs in Słubice. He won the Lower Silesian title in combined events and long jump, and took silver in the high jump. Michał Zazula is part of the national junior-team training programme and holds the second sports class.Gracjan Kozak
Gracjan Kozak, an athlete of the “Bolesłavia” Inter-school Sports Club, won silver at the 2021 Polish Championships in the discus and shot put and won a nationwide shot-put competition. Gracjan Kozak is part of the national-team training programme and holds the first sports class. He earned 42 points for Bolesławiec and the club in the Children’s and Youth Sports System run by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport.
Julia Halewicz
Julia Halewicz is an athlete of the “Bolesłavia” Inter-school Sports Club who achieved high placings in athletics competitions in 2021. At the International Match in Jelenia Góra, she won the javelin event. In the national final of the “Athletics for Everyone” programme, she took first place in the javelin and became Lower Silesian champion in the event. Julia Halewicz is part of the Voivodeship Youth Training Squad and holds the third sports class. She earned four points in the Children’s and Youth Sports System run by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport.Zbigniew Gaweł
Zbigniew Gaweł is an athlete of the “Olimpijczyk” Special Olympics Club. In 2021, he achieved excellent results in competitions across many disciplines. He won gold in doubles at the 8th Nationwide Special Olympics Table Tennis Tournament and silver at the 11th Lower Silesian Special Olympics Table Tennis Tournament. He won gold in the squat and deadlift, bronze in the bench press and gold in the overall classification at the 12th Nationwide Special Olympics Powerlifting Meet. Mr Zbigniew Gaweł also won gold in the squat, deadlift, bench press and overall classification at the 15th Lower Silesian Special Olympics Powerlifting Meet.
Jan Król
In 2021, Jan Król competed in many nationwide and local badminton events, repeatedly reaching the podium. He took first place in the under-13 category in the “Jastrowska Badminton League,” under-11 category in “Lubuska Lotka,” under-9 category in the “Junior BADKURP CUP,” under-9 category in the Open Unicorn Championships, and won twice in the under-11 category as part of the Lower Silesian Cup. He took second place in the under-11 category at “Poczesna JURA CUP,” in the under-11 category at the Open Unicorn Championships and in the under-11 category at the “Junior BADKURP CUP.” He took third place in the under-11 category at the Lower Silesian Championships, in the under-11 category during National Badminton Days, twice in the under-11 category in the Lower Silesian Cup, in the under-9 category at the National Badminton Tournament and in the under-11 category in the Lubusz Badminton League.Milena Krawczyk
In 2021, Milena Krawczyk achieved high placings in numerous swimming competitions. Her greatest successes included first place in the 100-metre breaststroke at the “SwimMania” Lower Silesian Swimming League, first place in the 100-metre breaststroke at the winter Lower Silesian Championships for 12- and 13-year-olds, first place in the 100-metre freestyle and 50-metre butterfly at the 19th Zagłębie Miedziowe Championships, and first place in the 50-metre butterfly at the Nationwide Swimming Competition celebrating the 10th anniversary of Termy Maltańskie in Poznań. In the final of the Lower Silesian Children’s and Youth Games individual swimming competition, she took first place in the 50-metre freestyle and first place in the 25-metre butterfly.
Klaudia Petters
In 2021, Ms Klaudia Petters competed in numerous duathlon, triathlon, running and cycling events at national level, finishing most of them in medal positions. Her greatest successes included first place among women aged 19–29 at the Mountain Road Polish Amateur Championships, first place among youth athletes at the Polish Middle-Distance Duathlon Championships, “Champioman Duathlon,” first place in the women’s open category over the half-Ironman distance at the “PolskaMan Triathlon Wolsztyn,” and first place in the women’s open category at the Polish-German Duathlon in Drzonków.Inter-school Sports Club “Bolesłavia”
The club’s athletes achieved high placings in numerous regional and nationwide competitions in 2021. Important achievements included winning six medals at the Polish Championships, the Polish Championships of Rural Sports Clubs and the nationwide final of “Athletics for Everyone,” 70 medals at the Lower Silesian Championships in various age categories and eight medals at the Macroregion Championships. Two athletes are part of the national team, six of the national-team reserve, 10 of the Voivodeship Youth Squad, and 42 club athletes earned sports classes. The club received an award from the Marshal’s Office of Lower Silesia for the best sports clubs and took second place in Lower Silesia in the children’s and youth competition among Lower Silesian athletics clubs.

The club can boast many achievements from 2021. Its athletes won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Nationwide Special Olympics Table Tennis Tournament, the Nationwide Powerlifting Meet, the 20th Lower Silesian Special Olympics Athletics Meet, the 15th Lower Silesian Special Olympics Powerlifting Meet, the 18th Lower Silesian Special Olympics Football Tournament and the 11th Lower Silesian Special Olympics Table Tennis Tournament.
