Gala of Talents at the Old Theatre is an event organized by a kindergarten and primary school from Bolesławiec. The guest of honor at the April event was Sonia Turzyniecka, an athlete with a huge heart.
Although her discipline – arm wrestling – is associated with competition and toughness, she proves that true strength lies in empathy and a willingness to help others. As a world champion in para competitions, Sonia knows perfectly well how important it is to break down barriers and stereotypes. She herself has shown that determination and self-belief can move mountains. Now she uses her strength to help others.
A Meaningful Distinction
During the gala, Sonia Turzyniecka was honored for her work for children. The distinction was awarded for promoting diversity and acceptance. Sonia proves that everyone, regardless of their limitations, can achieve great things.
Sonia: an ambassador for Bolesławiec and an ambassador for equality
At the gala, Sonia Turzyniecka represented not only athletes achieving honors in para competitions, but above all was a champion of empathy and equality for everyone, from the youngest to the oldest, able-bodied people and people with disabilities.
“Children always cheer me on when I go to competitions,” says Sonia Turzyniecka. “You don’t have to be the strongest person in the world to change the world for the better. It is enough to be a good person. Every child deserves to be themselves – without fear and without shame. This is the message I want to pass on,” says Sonia, proud of her award.
The athlete’s numerous successes show that success is not only about medals, but also about what we do for others. True strength is the ability to stand up for those who are weaker, and the world becomes a better place when everyone has the courage to be themselves – and when we support children in doing so.
