– The incident took place in the morning at one of the shops in Bystrzyca Kłodzka. The woman had her identity card, three payment cards and more than PLN 1,000 in her wallet. While packing her purchases, she put the wallet on a shelf and simply forgot about it when leaving the shop – explains asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – Another elderly woman who was in the supermarket decided to take advantage of the situation and took the wallet left behind by the customer.
When the victim realized that her wallet was missing, she notified the police. Within an hour of the report, officers had established who was responsible.

To everyone’s surprise, the perpetrator turned out to be a 76-year-old resident of Kłodzko County. The woman was surprised by the officers’ visit; she thought the matter would blow over and that she would remain unpunished.
The suspect voluntarily handed over the stolen money to the police. She also admitted that she had thrown away the wallet with the documents… on her way home. Officers found the 76-year-old’s loot in a rubbish bin.
Both the wallet and the money were returned to the owner, who could спокойно go on her planned holiday. The 76-year-old, meanwhile, was charged with theft. She may face up to 5 years in prison.
