Forest fire on the border of the Lower Silesian and Lubusz voivodeships
Update 2022-06-18, 21:00
Portal Polkowice 112 reports on the fire on the border of the Lower Silesian and Lubusz voivodeships:
More than 4 hectares were burned (young growth and mature forest). Laborious mopping-up operations are currently under way at the fire site. More than 20 fire brigades are working at the scene. Further water drops and forestry service operations are also being carried out.
Firefighters are appealing for caution while in the forest. The undergrowth is currently extremely dry, and even a cigarette butt or a lit match can start a fire. A fire started in a forest can quickly reach considerable intensity. The fire can spread at speeds of up to several kilometres per hour. It is then impossible to escape the flames.
