The incident occurred on Sunday, shortly after 1:00 a.m., in Bolków. – Police officers noticed a young man riding an electric scooter. They decided to check why the young person was travelling alone so late at night – reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – They therefore stopped the rider of the two-wheeled vehicle for a roadside inspection.
It turned out that the scooter was being ridden by a 16-year-old, and the officers detected the smell of alcohol on him.
The minor was drunk; he had nearly one per mille of alcohol in his system. The boy was taken to the Bolków police station, from where a parent collected him.
What will the consequences be?
The family court will handle the case. In addition, the officers are determining how the young man obtained the alcohol.
Police:
Pursuant to Article 208 of the Criminal Code, anyone who causes a minor to become addicted to alcohol by supplying them with an alcoholic beverage or persuading them to consume alcohol is liable to imprisonment for up to 2 years.
Moreover, pursuant to the Code of Petty Offences: Anyone who, while intoxicated or under the influence of a similarly acting substance, drives on a public road, in a residential zone or in a traffic zone a vehicle other than a motor vehicle is liable to arrest or a fine of no less than PLN 2,500.
