A revolution is coming to Spacerowa Street. We will say goodbye to the swimming pools at the Water and Sports Centre, which Bolesławiec residents have known since the 1970s. The pool area will be demolished. A modern water park with parking will be built in its place.

The pool area will include: a water playground for children, a pool (partly covered), possibly with brine and slightly heated water,
a pool for children and young people with a large number of play facilities, and a pool featuring, among other things, a lazy river and a multifunctional slide.

Two full-size football pitches will also be built on the centre's grounds (the larger one will be covered), along with a small training pitch and beach volleyball courts. The tennis courts will be improved. An ice rink will be built, and a festival shelter will be added in the amphitheatre area.

There will also be a large beach, allowing visitors to enjoy sunbathing in summer, as well as a restaurant, social facilities and changing rooms.

On Monday, 6 June, at the Water and Sports Centre (OWS) on Spacerowa Street, city mayor Piotr Roman, county head Tomasz Gabrysiak and representatives of the investment process discussed the new development concept for the OWS and the modernisation of the municipal stadium.

“Bolesławiec residents have known this place since the 1970s,” said Piotr Roman at the conference. “It will undergo a significant change—a revitalisation. The pool complex, which has practically not operated for several years, will be removed. A multigenerational water park will be built in its place as part of the entire Water and Sports Centre complex. There have been many meetings and discussions about what this place should look like. I was counting on this money, but I did not expect to receive it so quickly. I hope inflation will not interfere with the implementation of our plans,” the mayor added.

In addition to building the water park, the city will modernise the stadium on Spółdzielcza Street. The modernisation and expansion of the stadium were included in Bolesławiec’s 2021 budget. The cost is expected to be PLN 4,000,000.

“These two facilities will make it possible to spend leisure time in Bolesławiec even more enjoyably,” said Piotr Roman. “They will raise the standard of living in the city. The point of these projects is that residents of every age will have the opportunity to spend their free time here. And, importantly, we will get rid of this eyesore and eliminate a facility that frightens people,” the mayor added, referring to the old swimming pools.

When will the water park be built? It is not yet known.

“We now have to select a contractor. There will be tenders, so I do not know when the investment will be completed,” the mayor added.

The project “Development of the Water and Sports Centre at 24 Spacerowa Street in Bolesławiec” has been included on the funding list under the second edition of the Government Strategic Investment Programme and amounts to PLN 29,839,330.

This is what the new facility on Spacerowa Street is to look like.
