On Friday afternoon, representatives of ceramic companies operating in Bolesławiec County, local government authorities headed by Bolesławiec mayor Piotr Roman, the Association of Ceramic Municipalities of the Republic of Poland, the Ceramic Brotherhood and municipal cultural institutions signed a cooperation declaration concerning the inclusion of Bolesławiec ceramics on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
City Hall: – This is the first historic step initiating actions that could lead to Bolesławiec ceramics being submitted for inclusion on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
In Poland, initiatives of this kind are supervised by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and coordinated by the National Heritage Institute. The office said: – In accordance with the 2003 UNESCO Convention, inclusion on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage provides the basis for a possible submission seeking to place a heritage element from Poland on the international lists maintained by UNESCO under this Convention.
During the meeting, the role of initiative coordinator was entrusted to the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec. The declaration was signed by 29 custodians. Details are available on the Bolesławiec City Hall website.
