– The fourteenth pension will soon become a reality; we will discuss it today in the government. This is further support as part of implementing a policy focused on the individual, our intergenerational solidarity and responsibility for others – announced on Tuesday in Świercze the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg. She also noted that fourteenth pensions would be paid starting in August.
She added:
Seniors do not have to submit any applications – the relevant pension authorities will pay this benefit on the date on which the pension or disability benefit is paid. The amount of this benefit is equal to the minimum pension, that is, PLN 1,338.44.
According to the ministry’s estimates, approximately 9 million pensioners and disability-benefit recipients will receive the additional benefit.
Not for everyone, and not in the same amount
Minister: – We are introducing an income threshold of PLN 2,900, but we are also introducing the “złotówka za złotówkę” mechanism – this means that if the pension is higher than PLN 2,900, the fourteenth pension will be reduced accordingly.
Who will not receive the “fourteenth”?

However, the “fourteenth” will not be paid to pensioners whose benefit, after being reduced according to the “złotówka za złotówkę” rule, would be less than PLN 50—in other words, everyone whose regular pension is higher than PLN 4,188.44.
How much will it cost?
The cost of paying the next additional annual cash benefit in 2022 is approximately PLN 11.4 billion. This year, support under the thirteenth and fourteenth pensions will amount to nearly PLN 25 billion. In total, since 2019, it will already exceed PLN 70 billion.
