Bolesławiec traffic police, while conducting a nighttime patrol of the Nowogrodziec municipality, stopped two men who, several hours earlier, had jointly committed three fuel thefts at petrol stations. – The accomplices always acted in the same way: the driver pulled up to the pump, while the passenger got out and filled the vehicle with fuel. They then drove away without paying – explains asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.

Interestingly, the driver was a 26-year-old who had... a court-imposed driving ban in effect until February 2024. In addition, the man had methamphetamine on him and, as officers determined, may have been driving under its influence.

Additionally, empty canisters used during the thefts were found in the car in which the suspects were traveling.

The detainees are the same age and live near each other in the Nowogrodziec municipality. Both heard three charges concerning fuel theft. (Losses: more than PLN 2,000).

The driver will also face charges for two earlier fuel thefts in Bolesławiec, violating the court-ordered driving ban six times, possessing narcotic substances, and driving a vehicle that had not been approved for road use and had no compulsory insurance. He may also be charged with driving under the influence of drugs if tests confirm this.

Both men face up to five years in prison.
