In one of the towns in Jawor County, a second traffic patrol set up a roadblock using a police car. However, when the driver saw the officers, he accelerated and drove around the police car, nearly hitting them. The officers avoided being hit by jumping out of the way.
Then officers from the Patrol and Intervention Department, seeing the Mazda travelling at high speed toward them, used their service weapons to stop the speeding vehicle. However, the driver continued his escape.
The fugitive lost control of the vehicle on a bend and hit crash barriers. The officers immediately ran toward the vehicle.
The 22-year-old Legnica resident did not give up: he locked himself inside the car. It did little good; using the partly open window, the officers subdued the suspect. Staff Sergeant Anna Tersa: – The arrested man had a knife on him; thanks to the officers’ quick reaction, no one was injured.
It turned out that the young man from Legnica was fleeing because his driving privileges had been revoked. He was also completely sober. Nevertheless, he now faces up to five years in prison.
