– At night, from 2 to 3 May 2022, the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski received two reports from the town of Wleń. One intervention concerned a domestic dispute, while the other involved a road incident in which two vehicles were damaged and the driver fled the scene – reports Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer for the Lwówek police.
At the scene, officers established that both interventions concerned the same man – a 27-year-old resident of Wleń. The suspect first started an argument at his place of residence, and then grabbed the car keys. Driving at excessive speed through the narrow streets of Wleń, he caused a road incident in which two properly parked vehicles were damaged. When he returned home, he was arrested.
As it turned out, the man had gone on a joyride despite being completely drunk; a test showed more than 2 per mille of alcohol in his breath. It cannot be ruled out that he was also under the influence of narcotic substances. (Blood was taken from him for testing.)
The extremely irresponsible driver and vandal could now face up to five years in prison.
