Officers from the Traffic Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica noticed an Audi driver who overtook another vehicle in a prohibited place. Asp. Anna Grześków from the Legnica police headquarters: – When he saw the police car, the man clearly accelerated and abruptly turned into the parking lot of one of the stores. As the police officers were about to check his identity, they noticed that, right before their eyes, the driver switched places with the female passenger.
What is more, the woman stubbornly stuck to her story. She claimed that she had been driving the car and had committed the violation. Her lies did not help much, however, and the 43-year-old was fined PLN 500.
When the deception failed to produce the desired result, the 40-year-old driver admitted that he had wanted to avoid punishment because his driving privileges had been revoked.
That was not the end of it. It emerged that the 40-year-old had been driving under the influence of drugs, and his vehicle had not been approved for road use. What is more, the Audi was not registered in Poland, and the road pirate did not have the mandatory third-party liability insurance.
The result? The 40-year-old received a PLN 4,500 fine. He also faces up to two years in prison.
