Kinga Gęsicka-Biały initiated the “Pomocna dłoń” centre in Bolesławiec as a volunteer, together with many other people. It is a kind of shop where Ukrainian women fleeing the war with their children can take food, hygiene products, clothes and shoes free of charge. Kinga and many other women and men have been helping Ukraine since the beginning of the war. What does such assistance look like behind the scenes, what is the most difficult part of it, and are the people providing help already feeling tired? We ask these questions in the interview. We also discuss visits to the centre by the Lower Silesian Voivode Jarosław Obremski and the mayor of Bolesławiec’s partner city, Siegburg, Stefan Rosemann.
Are the Women of Bolesławiec Already Tired of Helping Refugees from Ukraine?
An interview with Kinga Gęsicka-Biały, who works at the “Pomocna dłoń” aid centre for refugees in Bolesławiec. We discuss the assistance provided to Ukrainian women and men, the emotions it evokes, the problems involved and the lack of support from the Polish state.
