The visit was connected with the situation in Ukraine and specific assistance for refugees who are staying in Bolesławiec. As part of the assistance, Siegburg donated one hundred beds intended for refugees. Bolesławiec City Hall:
Friends from Germany [Siegburg jest miastem partnerskim Bolesławca – przyp. red.] also declare that they will organize a fundraiser dedicated to war-torn Ukraine, including Zbaraż and refugees staying in Bolesławiec.
During the one-day visit, the Mayor of Siegburg, Stefan Rosemann, and his deputy, Oliver Schmidt, had the opportunity to learn about the operation of the “Helping Hand” clothing and food distribution point on Parkowa Street, which is run by Polish and Ukrainian volunteers.
The programme of the visit to Bolesławiec included, among other things, a stay at a refugee centre and individual conversations with the Ukrainian mothers and children staying there. The guests from Germany learned the stories of people staying in Bolesławiec, their escape routes from the war-torn country, and first-hand accounts of the lives they led in their homeland.

Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman presented the guests with the initiatives and assistance provided to refugees, including accommodation, daily communal meals, cleaning and personal hygiene supplies, and other products. Mayor P. Roman drew particular attention to the exceptional commitment of the Bolesławiec community to helping Ukraine, provided by individual residents, companies, associations, institutions and offices, as well as a large group of volunteers. The Mayor of Bolesławiec also appealed to partner cities with a proposal to establish a solidarity network of cities supporting Ukraine.
